Symbiotics 2011 MIV Survey now available
Symbiotics Research & Advisory SA released the Symbiotics 2011 MIV Survey. The Survey provides key data and benchmarks of the financial and social performance of 70 MIVs, covering 87% of the MIV market which is currently estimated at USD 6.8 billion.
Key highlights of the Symbiotics 2011 MIV Survey:
- MIV assets record their lowest growth rate since 2007
- South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa enjoy the highest investment growth
- Equity Funds are the fastest growing fund segment
- Fixed Income Funds have historical below average returns
- The majority of MIVs have fully adopted the Client Protection Principles

The Survey is based on December 2010 information reported by MIVs. The CGAP MIV Disclosure Guidelines are used as the reporting standard. The Survey offers two levels of analysis, key market trends and peer group analysis, and focuses on two dimensions, financial performance (with a focus on growth, risk, return, efficiency and funding patterns) and social performance (with a focus on commitment to ESG practice and reporting).
