Prior to co-founding Symbiotics, Roland worked for BlueOrchard Finance as their CFO for three years, as well as for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Geneva in management consulting, for McKesson in San Francisco in corporate finance, and for UBS Switzerland in institutional asset management. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute (IHEID) in Geneva and a master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.Vincent Dufresne, Chief Investment Officer.
Prior to co-founding Symbiotics, he co-founded Infobahn SA and Qlik.ch Sàrl. Infobahn is an internet software development company with a solid experience in microfinance, notably with UNCTAD, CGAP/World Bank, the MIX Market and BlueOrchard Finance. He also worked as a banking auditor at Arthur Andersen for three years. Vincent holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of St-Gallen (lic. oec. HSG) and has passed the CFA Level II exam.Boris Vetsch, Chief Financial Officer/HR.
Prior to joining Symbiotics in 2007, Boris worked for the largest pharmaceutical chain in Geneva as their CFO and later became their CEO for four years. Before this, he was an auditor at Ernst & Young for ten years. He also worked as a volunteer finance officer in a humanitarian NGO in Calcutta, India, a financial analyst in a multilateral agency and headed a small family business. Boris holds a degree in Business and Management, a degree in Accounting and a degree in Marketing Communication.Yvan Renaud, Chief Risk Officer.
Yvan joined Symbiotics in 2005. Prior to this, he worked for BlueOrchard Finance where he was the chief operations officer. Before this, he was a microfinance consultant in Peru and a small enterprise consultant in Western Africa and worked as a fund accountant at Capital International in Geneva. Yvan holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Geneva and a master’s degree in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics.Daniel Schriber, Head of Research & Advisory.
Prior to joining Symbiotics in 2006, Daniel worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in various management positions in Rwanda, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, and finally as Deputy Head of Operations for Eastern Europe at ICRC's Geneva headquarters. Daniel holds a master's degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute (IHEID) in Geneva and an executive MBA in Management and Corporate Finance from the University of Lausanne.Fabio Sofia, Head of Investor Relations.
Fabio joined Symbiotics as its first employee and was successively investment analyst, regional manager and client relationship manager. Prior to joining Symbiotics, he worked for the Human Rights Policy section of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and for LODH & Cie, a Swiss private bank, as a project manager. Fabio holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute (IHEID) in Geneva as well as a certificate of advanced studies in Portfolio Management from the University of Geneva.
